Headline: Director of a travel agency in the Kemerovo Region was sentenced for stealing from clients about 3.6 million rubles
At the time of signing contracts for the provision of travel services the company director was aware of the company’s financial problems, and of the inability to meet its obligations to customers.
The Central District Court of Kemerovo delivered its verdict in the criminal case against the director of one of the travel agencies in Kemerovo. She was found guilty of committing a crime stipulated by Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code “Fraud committed on an especially large scale by a person using his official position”.
The Police received statements from customers of one of the travel companies of Kemerovo, who reported that they had purchased their vouchers, but just before the departure learned that their trips were canceled.
Officers of the ES&CC Administration of the MIA Administration for the Kemerovo Region held a check of these statements, during which they found that the director of the travel company used the money received from customers for personal use.
Based on the results of the check a detective of the GIA of the MIA GA for the Kemerovo Region prosecuted the director of the travel company. In the course of investigation he found that the suspect deceived 31 residents of the regional center. At the time of signing contracts for the provision of travel services the company director was aware of the company’s financial problems and of the inability to meet its obligations to customers. Despite that, the woman misled the victims, to get their money. According to investigators, during the six month period of using the scheme she stole from the victims about 3,600,000 rubles.
After gathering the necessary evidence base the criminal case was sent to the Central District Court of Kemerovo, which found the defendant guilty of the committed fraud and sentenced her to a suspended 18 months term of imprisonment. The issue of reparations to the victims will be resolved through civil proceedings.
