Headline: Employees of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs fully ensured law and order during the World Hockey Championship – 2016

From 6 to 22 May Moscow and St. Petersburg hosted the 80th World Championship in ice hockey. The competitions were held in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In Moscow the competition arena, “VTB” Ice Palace” was visited by a total of 285,000 spectators, the fan zone – by about 200 thousand people. The daily maintenance of law and order involved approximately 1,500 police officers, servicemen of the National Guard and employees of private security companies.

In St. Petersburg, the SC “Jubileyny” was attended by more than 130 thousand people, the territory of the fan zone – by more than 80 thousand fans. The daily maintenance of law and order involved about 500 police officers and employees of private security companies.

As a result of measures taken there were identified and suppressed over 100 Administrative Offenses (violation of rules of conduct of spectators at a sports facility) and solved 2 thefts. No significant violations of public order or emergencies were allowed.
