Headline: Criminal case on series of car thefts was forwarded to court in Stavropol Territory
The Organized Crime Investigation Unit of the General Investigation Administration of the Russian MIA General Administration for the Stavropol Territory has accomplished the investigation of the criminal case on a series of car thefts.
The thefts were perpetrated secretly at night, after which the offenders made false identification numbers and sold the cars to third parties. By now, the police have established the suspect’s involvement in 49 thefts.
The man who had committed those crimes was put on the wanted list in 2007. As a result of investigation measures, the police established his location in September 2015. Restraint in the form of pre-trial detention was imposed on the suspect.
In the course of investigation and search operations, the police established the location of 11 stolen cars, including those with replaced identification numbers. Within the preliminary investigation, the police carried out 17 forensic examinations, multiple interrogations of victims and witnesses, owing to which the suspect’s guilt in the perpetration of those crimes was fully proved.
By now, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been forwarded to the court for consideration.
