Headline: Axel Springer expands US presence with establishment of headquarters in New York City
New York, NY (August 5, 2016) – Axel Springer SE today announces the establishment of its US headquarters in New York City. The office will serve as the main hub for company activities in the US and will complement its existing office in Silicon Valley, established in 2014. The New York headquarters is scheduled to open October 1st.
Said Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer SE: “New York City is the center of digital journalism in the US, where Axel Springer is highly active as a strategic media investor, including its acquisitions of BUSINESS INSIDER and eMarketer, as well as investments in NowThis, Thrillist, and Mic. It therefore makes sense for us to establish our head US office in New York.”

Jens Müffelmann, Axel Springer President USA and CEO of Axel Springer Digital Ventures, together with his Head of Business Development, Claudius Senst, will establish the office as co-working space at WeWork, starting October 1st, 2016.
Anton Waitz, who had been exploring investment opportunities in the US for Axel Springer first in Silicon Valley and since February 2016 from New York City, left the company on July 31st, 2016. His tasks have been taken over by Claudius Senst.
