Headline: Members of organized group involved in marijuana cultivation and sale were detained by employees of Russian MIA General Administration for Drug Control
“As a result of the joint efforts, employees of the General Administration for Drug Control of the Russian MIA together with colleagues from the Division for Drug Control of Intermunicipal Administration “Mytishchinskoye” of the Russian MIA detained members of the organized group suspected of cultivation of marijuana and its subsequent sale in a large amount in the Moscow Region,” said Russian MIA official representative Irina Volk.
To carry out their unlawful activities, the malefactors had rented a private house in one of the gardeners’ non-commercial partnerships in the Sergiyevo-Posadsky District of the Moscow Region and had equipped a laboratory for hemp cultivation on the second floor.
By the moment, the suspects have been detained; more than 3 kg of marijuana has been removed from illegal trafficking, as well as equipment used for cultivation.
The authorities initiated a criminal case against the suspects based on essential elements of a crime stipulated by Part 4 Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Upon the motion of the investigators, the court imposed restraint in the form of pre-trial detention on the suspects.
