Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of
Ukraine Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze
held a meeting with the Ukrainian part of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society
Platform. The meeting was also attended by Director of the Government Office
for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna and representatives of the Ministry of
Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.
The conversation revolved around a Joint Declaration which was adopted
on 18 May 2017 after the 4th meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform
in Brussels. The said document envisages recommendations, particularly on
environmental protection under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement as well as
on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area to the Government of Ukraine and
to the European authorities.
The Vice Prime Minister congratulated representatives of civil society
on activation of visa-free regime and also placed a special emphasis on the
necessity to strengthen efforts for the implementation of the EU-Ukraine
Association Agreement. The interlocutors discussed introduction of the “eurointegration reforms” and lack of cooperation in this
direction between the Government and the Parliament.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze urged representatives of the Ukrainian
part of the Platform to more actively monitor the implementation of the
EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the framework of public control. In turn,
representatives of the NGOs sector expressed their readiness to join the
process aimed to update the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association
Agreement in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine as well as in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Moreover, the Vice Prime Minister welcomed their eagerness to be engaged in the triangle “Parliament-Government-
Civil Society” as regards advocacy of “eurointegration”
The EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform (CSP) is an instrument of
bilateral dialogue between the civil societies of both sides, established in
accordance with the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement (Article 469) in order to
keep them informed of the implementation of the Agreement as well as to gather
their input in this regard. The CSP is a Forum which consists of members of the
European Economic and Social Committee on the one hand and representatives of
the Ukrainian civil society on the other and is designed to ensure dialogue and
the exchange of ideas.
