Poltorak participated in the 1st Ukrainian Women’s
Congress ‘Women, Peace, and Security’.

“Every
year, more and more women join the Ukrainian army. This year, 2,400 women have
signed contract with the Ukrainian army. In 2014-2017, more than 6,000
women participated in operations in east of Ukraine,
of which 107 women have state awards, including 3 posthumously.
Currently, there are 55,629 women in the Ukrainian army, of which
24,298 are service members,” Gen. Poltorak informed.

According
to him, the Ministry of Defence will continue to focus
on implementation and realization of gender equality policy
in security and defence sector.
