The MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Orel was contacted by an 81-year-old local resident. The pensioner made a statement that an unknown woman had stolen savings from her house – 140 thousand rubles. The elderly resident of Orel explained to the policeman that the stranger had come to her apartment under the pretext of selling bedding – pillows and blankets. The visitor asked for 18 thousand rubles for the goods. The victim gave the offender her wallet, but there was amount required in it. Then the resident of Orel went to the bedside table, where she kept all her savings. The stranger followed her, and when she saw the money, she overtook the owner and took it. She counted the bills and left.
The pensioner after a while realized that the visitor had taken all of her savings.
Police officers learned the description of the offender, interviewed possible witnesses and eyewitnesses of the incident. The drawn-up description was handed over to duty policemen.
On this fact, an investigator of the Investigative Administration of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Orel filed a criminal case on the grounds of the crime provided for in part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Robbery”.
The police organized the operational-search actions necessary for solving the crime. The offender was detained by officers of the Criminal Investigation Division of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Orel Region the next day. The police received a message from an attentive local woman who told the staff that she had noticed an unknown woman who offered the house inhabitants to buy her bedding. Operatives immediately left for the specified address. There they found a woman fitting the description provided by the victim. With her, 140,000 rubles were found and seized.
The offender was taken to the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Orel for identification and clarification of all the circumstances. She turned to be a 31-year-old resident of a foreign country. The victim identified her as the recent visitor.
At present, a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody was chosen for the defendant. The investigation is under way.
