Students studying at the Law Enforcement Department of the Yurga Vocational Engineering and IT School learnt about the everyday service of precinct police officers.
The event was held within campaign “One day with a precinct police officer”. Senior precinct police officer Police Major Sergey Ivanov and precinct police officer Police Major Alexandr Norkin invited the students to the district police station and told them about the duties performed by precinct police officers. There are dozens of them – from preventive work with citizens to exposure of crimes. Talking to the students about their everyday service, law enforcement officers stressed that their profession was one of those involving a lot of communication with people. These are precinct police officers who are one of the first to aid citizens facing hardships; therefore, they need to have empathy in addition to professional skills. The next step of the dive into the service was visiting persons registered on preventive lists at their homes. The policemen told the campaign participants about the administrative supervision and the restrictions imposed in connection with that type of punishment.
At the end of the event, the police provided explanations about frauds committed against elderly people. The students of the vocational school who are currently members of the municipal voluntary people’s guard handed out specially prepared instruction booklets to them and reminded them once again about the security measures that should be observed in order not to become fraudsters’ victims.
Summing up the results of the completed work, the participants in the campaign noted that the day spent with the precinct police officers had been very useful. They had not only learnt about their service, but had also made their own small contribution into the fight against offenses.
