Within preventive event “Two Wheels”, inspectors of the Detached Battalion of the Road Patrol Service of the Traffic Police of the Russian MIA for Murmansk carried out a meeting on road safety at school No. 22 in Murmansk.
Children and teenagers aged from 6 to 15 took part in the event. Policemen repeated the main road rules with the children related to both pedestrians and two-wheeler drivers. Officers of the Road Patrol Service explained errors that are most often committed by pedestrians when crossing the road and walking in yards. Those include, among others, using smartphones and headphones, rush when they start crossing the road before the green traffic light is on, as well as careless behavior in yards when pedestrians or bicyclists appear before a moving car all of a sudden.
The inspectors of the Road Patrol Service also reminded of such serious violation of the rules as crossing the road on a bicycle. It is necessary to dismount from a bicycle, make sure it would be safe to cross the road and after that use crosswalks. The rule is also applicable to those riding new transport devices: self-balancing unicycles, self-balancing scooters, electric scooters and segways.
At the end of the meeting, inspectors of the Traffic Police checked the knowledge of the road signs and the rules of passengers’ behavior. The children answered the questions correctly and all at once. Officers of the Traffic Police presented reminders to the young pedestrians and bicyclists and wished pleasant and safe vacations to the children.
