“A British citizen applied to the territorial police unit. The applicant reported that he was in the area of Teatralnaya Square early in the morning of July 6, 2018. At that moment a car with a taxi sign on the roof approached him and the driver invited him to the car salon to take him to his place of stay. During the trip, the driver picked up another passenger into the salon, explaining that he was his friend.
In the car the guest of the capital lost consciousness, and the offenders, using his unconscious state, stole his property. The applicant recovered near the metro station “Dynamo”, where he found out the absence of cash, mobile phone and bank cards. Subsequently, money was withdrawn from his bank cards. The total damage amounted to more than 80 thousand rubles,” said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
On this fact, the police instituted criminal proceedings based on features of the crime provided for in Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The police organized a complex of operational and search activities, which resulted in the identification of the offenders, as well as the brand and number of the car that the suspects had used.
“During 24h after receiving the information about the crime, criminal investigation officers detained both the suspects. They were a 33- and a 37-year-old guests of Moscow who fully admitted their guilt. As part of the proceedings in the criminal case it was established that the offenders were engaged in illegal taxi services using the car into which the victim got.
At present, the suspects are detained pursuant to Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The investigation of the criminal case continues,” added Irina Volk.
