About 8 p.m. on July 22 the police duty-unit received a statement from an Irkutsk woman. The woman reported that her husband, a pensioner, went for mushrooms to the forest, located behind the village of Plishkino. At the appointed time, the man did not return and did not get in touch.
To search for the mushroom picker, search groups were formed, consisting of police officers, rescuers, and volunteers. Automotive equipment was used to ensure the most effective search. The searchers combed the forest and adjacent roads, interviewed the population of the nearest village. About 22 hours and 30 minutes a traffic police crew of inspectors Andrey Tsar and Nikolay Kuzovich found the pensioner in the woods safe and sound. The police switched on the alarm loudspeaker device on the patrol car, and the elderly citizen of Irkutsk came out to meet law enforcement officers at the sound of the siren.
Thanks to promptly taken measures, it was possible to find the lost pensioner within several hours.
