Operatives of the drug control unit of the MIA of Russia Division for the city of Maykop in the framework of the “Mak” (popper) operation revealed the fact of organizing a den for drug use. Police officers learned from vigilant citizens about the fact that one of the houses in the republican center was visited by suspicious persons.
A set of measures was immediately organized on the reports received. During their implementation law enforcement officers kept under surveillance the home of a 58-year-old resident of Maykop. This allowed collecting evidence that in the premises the guests consumed the illegal substance “salt”.
The owner of the house was detained at the moment when several visitors of the drug-den were inside. There operatives seized appliances for the preparation and consumption of drugs, as well as other evidence relevant to the criminal case.
The suspect was engaged in the illegal activities for about a month, and previously the man had been tried for committing a crime in this sphere.
Based on the materials collected by the investigators, a criminal case was initiated on the grounds of the crime provided for by part 1 of Article 232 of the Criminal Code of Russia. The sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to four years.
