“The All-Russian Children’s Center ‘Smena’ in the Krasnodar Territory held a solemn opening ceremony of the Interstate rally of young traffic inspectors dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the formation of the YTI movement. This year teams from 44 regions of Russia and 6 CIS countries – Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participated in the rally,” said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
The All-Russian Children’s Center “Smena” has become a traditional venue for the Interstate gathering of the YTIs, – the event is held here for the fifth year in a row. Before that, young traffic inspectors of Russia and neighboring countries were hosted by the All-Russian children’s centers “Orlyonok” and “Ocean”, as well as various Russian regions. The first Interstate meeting of the YTIs was held in 2006 in the Moscow Region.
“Opening the meeting, the honorary guests of the ceremony – representatives of the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate noted that the main purpose of the event was to popularize the fundamentals of road safety among schoolchildren and create conditions for preserving the lives and health of children on the roads. An important role in this work is played by the YTI teams, whose participants not only study the rules of safe behavior on the roads, but also promote these principles among their peers and adult road users,” said Irina Volk.
Traditionally the organizers prepared for the participants of the meeting a versatile thematic program on traffic safety. In particular, for young traffic inspectors a series of thematic contests and master classes will be held on the development of the YTI movement, the use of social networks as an effective tool for propagation work. YTIs will learn the secrets of driving a bike from the president of the Association of the bicycle trial of Russia, learn to provide first aid in road accidents and apply retroreflective elements in the everyday life.
One of the contests is “Teach Traffic Regulations to your Parent”, which is a part of the all-Russian campaign “Teach Traffic Regulations to your Child”, which is now taking place throughout the country. Each team – participant of the rally presented to the jury its training videos, which reflected their own methods of how to involve the parent community in the process of building culture on the roads. The Jury, which included staff members of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate units at the regional level, as well as the heads of the delegations of the CIS countries, selected 12 best videos; the winners will receive diplomas and gifts.
“In addition, within the framework of the rally representatives of Russian and foreign law enforcement agencies responsible for ensuring the traffic safety, will exchange experience of preventing traffic accidents involving children and adolescents. Colleagues from different countries will have an opportunity to present the most successful experience in this area, share innovations that are successfully applied and have worked well in various countries,” the official representative of the department added.
