The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of the city of Khabarovsk passed a guilty verdict in a criminal case of fraud.
“According to the preliminary investigation, a 31-year-old local resident, who had been repeatedly convicted, posted on popular Internet sites his announcements on the sale of purebred dogs, dwarf monkeys and raccoons. He used to ask potential buyers, to make an advance payment. As soon as the funds were credited to the account, the suspect stopped communicating with the victims. The victims of the defendant were residents of Siberia, the Urals, Primorsky Territory and the western regions of Russia,” said the official representative of the Russian MIA Irina Volk.
The investigating units of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Khabarovsk initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime stipulated by parts 1 and 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
During the search in the place of residence of the suspect, bank cards registered to third parties, cell phones with SIM cards of various mobile operators, and computer equipment were found and seized.
The court sentenced the defendant to 2 years of imprisonment in a penal colony of strict regime. The verdict did not come into effect.
