“Officers of the Administration for Economic Security and Combating the Corruption (ES&CC) of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Kostroma Region detained a suspect in breaching the rules for the manufacture and use of state assay stamps. He turned out to be an employee of one of the jewelry enterprises,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
As previously reported, the criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Article 181 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
During searches conducted at the workplace of the suspect and in his apartment, 3 state assay stamps were seized, which, according to the results of the examination, were recognized to be fakes.
“Currently, customers of the jeweler have also been established, with whom gold and silver products for an amount exceeding 8 million rubles, as well as devices for making fake impressions on jewelry – 29 names and 2 matrices have been found,” said Irina Volk.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues. Operational-search measures and investigative actions aimed at identifying all the circumstances of the unlawful activity, as well as identifying the enterprises that used fake stamps are being carried out.
