“The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, General of the Police of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev, signed an Order awarding police officers of the unit providing the operational servicing of the Ust-Kubinsky municipal district of the MIA of Russia Inter-district Division ‘Sokolsky’ of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Vologda Region, Senior Precinct officer of the Police Aleksey Shesterikov, Lieutenant of the Police Inquirer Sergey Svyatov and the driver of the rear support team vehicle Nikolay Spiridonov with the MIA of Russia medal ‘For courage in the course of rescue’. In the Ustye village of the Vologda Region, Major of the Police Aleksey Shesterikov, Lieutenant of the Police Sergey Svyatov and driver Nikolay Spiridonov rescued a teenager who had fallen through the ice a hundred meters away from the bank of the Kubena river. Aleksey Shesterikov jumped into the icy water to support the exhausted boy, and Sergey Svyatov with Nikolay Spiridonov helped lifting him into the boat, where they quickly dressed him in dry warm clothes.
By this time, Major of the Police Aleksey Golubkov and Senior Lieutenant of the Police Andrey Solovyov came to the ice hole in the second boat. They put the boy into their boat and transported him to the bank, where he was handed over to medical staff.
Thanks to the timely, competent and resolute actions of the police in an extreme situation, the boy’s life was saved.
