Minister Jacek Czaputowicz to visit United Kingdom and Ireland

On Thursday, 20 December, the chief of Polish diplomacy visits London to meet with UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt as part of Poland-UK intergovernmental consultations.

The talks will focus on the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation and the status of Polish citizens residing in the UK in the context of its withdrawal from the EU. The ministers will also discuss current European issues, including the situation in eastern and southern Europe, cooperation in strengthening transatlantic ties, and the situation in the Middle East.

On Friday, 21 December, the next day of his UK visit, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will attend a ceremony to open a Polish Consulate General in Belfast. He is also going to meet with delegations of the city’s authorities and the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The MFA head will also have consultations with Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Simon Coveney. They will explore bilateral cooperation, the current European agenda, including the Multiannual Financial Framework, and the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union. Other points will include the EU’s future and transatlantic relations, including the situation in Russia and Ukraine. On the occasion of his visit to Ireland, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will also travel to the border with Northern Ireland, where he will meet representatives of a non-governmental organisation dealing with peace and reconciliation between Northern Ireland and Ireland.
