On December 20, 2018 the traditional meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, and his spouse with the heads of diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations accredited in our country was held on the occasion of the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays.
Traditionally, this event is another opportunity for the diplomatic corps to get acquainted with the new aspect of life of the Belarusian society that is not directly related to their professional activity. This year, the event participants immersed in the atmosphere of beauty, grace and sport, visiting the Republican Center for Olympic rhythmic gymnastics training, where they got acquainted with the peculiarities of the center operation, the conditions in which future champions — the heroines of Belarusian sport are trained.
Foreign Minister V.Makei stressed that the choice of sports-oriented theme was not accidental, because the next year in Belarus will be closely connected to the international sports. Our country is preparing to accept an event that is significant for the sports and cultural life of the entire European continent that is the II European Games.
As V.Makei noted, a lot has already been done to make our guests comfortable in Belarus: a visa-free regime has been introduced for competitors and fans, exemption from paying tolls on certain sections of toll roads is provided, as well as a number of other benefits supported by the head of the National Olympic Committee — President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
In general, summing up the year 2018, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry stressed that due to joint efforts, the year was “full” of visits at the highest and high levels, important international events. The Minister noted, that all the achievements and results that could be brought to the asset by the end of the year, would be impossible without the direct participation and support of foreign partners and friends.
In his speech, V.Makei also congratulated the guests on the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays, wished them good health and well-being, as well as peace, harmony and prosperity to the nations of their countries.
