Law enforcement bodes received a statement from a local resident from whom an unknown person had openly stolen a car worth 400,000 rubles. The victim said that he was touring the city with a friend. On the outskirts of the regional center in the Industrial District, the driver stopped the vehicle and went out with the passenger to get some fresh air. At that moment, an unknown man from a foreign-made car parked nearby, approached them and began making financial claims. The malefactor whom the owner of the vehicle saw for the first time, demanded for the return of the borrowed money. A conflict ensued, during which the offender got behind the wheel of the victim’s foreign-made car and fled.
As a result of the unlawful act, the acquaintance of the applicant suffered a damage as well. In the cabin of the stolen car, he had left a bag with a cell phone, documents and a small amount of money. The resident of Khabarovsk estimated his losses at 45 thousand rubles.
Criminal investigation officers of the police division No. 1 of the MIA of Russia Administration for the city of Khabarovsk detained the suspect. The suspects turned to be a 31-year-old resident of the Ilyinka settlement. Earlier, the offender had been convicted for thefts. Operatives found the stolen foreign-made car in one of the gardening associations not far from the place of residence of the detainee. As for the smart-phone, the offender by that time had sold it. Law enforcement officers are taking steps to return the gadget.
The Police initiated a criminal case on the grounds of an offense stipulated by part 2 of Article 161 of the RF Criminal Code “Robbery”. This article presumes a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.
In respect of the suspect, a preventive measure was chosen in the form of a subscription on his own recognizance and proper conduct.
