Investigators of the MIA of Russia Administration for Syktyvkar initiated a criminal case on the fact of a traffic accident involving a passenger bus and a timber truck

On January 10, 2019 in the city of Syktyvkar, the Komi Republic, a traffic accident involving a passenger bus and a timber truck occurred.
A MAZ truck with a trailer was moving in the direction of Syktyvkar, a regular passenger bus – from Syktyvkar towards the Krasnozatonsky settlement. According to the preliminary data, the driver of the MAZ truck while executing the maneuver of turning to the left to the secondary road, without getting convinced of the safeness of its implementation, did not provide an advantage in the movement to a regular passenger bus. As a result, a collision of vehicles occurred. In the accident 21 bus passengers and the driver were injured, including 5 children.
Currently, 8 people are hospitalized, of them – 6 are adults and 2 – children.
On the fact of a traffic accident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Komi, initiated a criminal case under part 1 of Article 264 of the RF Criminal Code. A series of forensic examinations have been assigned.
The driver of the MAZ was held accountable three times during the year for violating the Traffic Rules, of which twice – for speeding.
