On January 14, 2019 Minsk hosted talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó, who arrived in the Republic of Belarus on an official visit.
In open and constructive manner, the Foreign Ministers discussed a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Hungarian relations. It has been emphasized that trade and economic interaction is a milestone of bilateral cooperation.
The Ministers also reviewed development of relations between Belarus and the European Union, perspective areas of interaction within other international and regional organizations, in particular the UN, OSCE, UNESCO. The parties also exchanged views on regionals situation and security issues.
Following the meeting, Foreign Ministers signed an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of Hungary on mutual protection of investments, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary on promotion of regional cooperation and Cooperation Programme between the MFAs for 2019.
The program of the visit also includes meetings of P.Szijjártó with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Rumas, the Ministers of Economy, Sports and Tourism, Agriculture and Food, as well as ceremony of wreath laying at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
At the end of the visit, P.Szijjártó will meet with the students of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University.
