The criminal case, initiated on the fact of illegal logging, was in the production of the Investigation Administration of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Bryansk Region.
As established during the investigation, a 37-year-old resident of the Bryansk Region, in the absence of documents necessary for harvesting wood, hired a team of lumberjacks, who had illegally logged 700 cubic meters of wood in the territory of the Karachevsky District. The material damage caused to the forest fund amounted to 18,849,000 rubles. The suspect managed to sell a part of the logged wood, the rest was seized by the police.
The man was charged under part 3 of Article 260 “Illegal logging of forest plantations” and part 3 of Article 191.1 “Acquisition, storage, transportation, processing for the purpose of marketing or marketing of knowingly illegally harvested wood” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanctions of this Article provide for a penalty of imprisonment for up to seven years with a payment of a large fine.
At the moment the criminal investigation has been completed and the criminal case has been sent to court.
