“Officers of the MIA of Russia Main Directorate of Economic Security and Combatting Corruption, together with colleagues from the Ryazan Region, with the participation of Rospotrebnadzor, Rosselkhoznadzor and Rosgvardia, suppressed the activity of workshops producing counterfeit butter,” said the official representative of the MIA of Russia Irina Volk.
“It was established that the offenders, using the production facilities of enterprises located in the Ryazan and Rostov regions, produced fake butter and sold it under a well-known brand-name. According to preliminary estimates, the turnover of illegal production has exceeded 100 million rubles.
During searches conducted in industrial and warehouse premises, accounting documentation, electronic data carriers, seals of companies and packaging materials with a large manufacturer’s trademark were seized. More than 150 boxes of ready for sale butter were found, the weight of which exceeded 500 kilograms,” Irina Volk said.
On this fact, the Investigative Unit of the MIA of Russia Administration for the Ryazan Region initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime stipulated by part 3 of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As a result of operational-search activities, two men, aged 46 and 50, were detained.
Currently, the Police continues operative-search activities and investigations aimed at establishing all the circumstances of their illegal activities.
