On August 16, 2016 Nanjing (China) hosted the second meeting of the Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation, as well as the eighth session of the Working Group on China-Belarus Industrial park.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Belarusian part of the Committee, the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President, Nikolai Snopkov, the Chairman of the Belarusian part of the Commission, the Minister of Economy, Vladimir Zinovsky, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Valentin Rybakov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China, Kirill Rudy, and other representatives of relevant ministries.
The Chinese delegation was led by the Chairman of the Chinese part of the Commission, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Zhong Shan, as well as the Deputy Chairman of the State Property Management Committee by the State Council of China, Huang Danhua.In the course of the session, the participants discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including the collaboration in the spheres of industry, agriculture, investments, science and education. The parties agreed on further steps to develop Belarus-China cooperation in different fields.
At the end of the meetings, the parties signed the Protocols of the Commission and the Working Group, as well as the Agreement on Cooperation between the China-Belarus industrial Park and Suzhou industrial park.

15-08-2016On August 15, 2016 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Mr. Evgeny Shestakov met with the Special Co-ordinator of the Organzation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) short-term observer mission, Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Mr. Kent Härstedt.

During the meeting the parties discussed a number of issues which concern the current electoral campaign in the Republic of Belarus and organization of international observation, including by the international parliamentary structures.The Belarusian side confirmed its adherence to conducting a transparent and fair election in line with national legislation and international commitments of the country, and assured of its readiness to create all necessary conditions for the full-fledged work of international observers.

On August 11, 2016 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the French Republic, Pavel Latushko, met with the Director of Economic and Budgetary Affairs of the United Nations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France.During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for Belarus-France cooperation within the UN system.P.Latushko informed the French side about the preparation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe of the international conference “Building Foundations for Economic Integration and Sustainable Development in the UNECE Region. Vision to 2030 ” , which will be held in Minsk in October 2016.

On August 8-10, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, paid a visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.During the visit, V.Rybakov participated in the high-level International Symposium on the Sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and targets “Achieving Universal Access to Water and Sanitation”.On August 9, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, V.Rybakov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirodjidin Aslov.During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of mutual interest. Special attention was paid to the collaboration between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries, as well as within international organizations; the development of economic cooperation, implementation of joint projects.

On August 8, 2016 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan non-resident, Oleg Ivanov, presented his Credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the results of meetings at the highest and high levels held in 2015-2016, reached an agreement to continue to develop the Inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as reiterated the importance of the opening of the office of the Belarusian-Afghan company in Kabul in the fall 2016.

The sides discussed the current issues of the bilateral agenda, strengthening of the juridical base of bilateral relations in various spheres, the creation of the Belarusian-Afghan Intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

On August 4, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus non-resident, Ziad Al Majali.
In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed the development of the relations between Belarus and Jordan. Special attention was paid to the preparation of the next session of the Joint Belarusian-Jordanian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as the organization of a visit of the Jordanian business delegation to the Republic of Belarus.
The parties also considered prospects for enhancement of the legal framework of bilateral cooperation, as well as the cooperation in humanitarian and consular areas.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged opinions on current state and prospects for the development of the bilateral relations. Special attention was paid to the preparations of the Intergovernmental Belarus-Hungary Commission on Economic Cooperation to be held in September 2016 in Minsk, as well as discussed issues of the Belarus-EU dialogue.
The parties reaffirmed shared willingness in the ongoing enhancement of political dialogue, economic and investment cooperation, expansion of the legal framework.

On August 2, 2016 the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Ecuador, Georgy Kislyak, met with the Director of the Department of Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Productivity of Ecuador, Xavier Villavicencio Córdoba.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation. Special attention was paid to the implementation in Ecuador of such projects as the creation the joint assembly production of buses and trucks with the participation of JSC “MAZ”.
The Ecuadorian side also expressed interest in technological cooperation in the fields of mechanical engineering and metallurgical industries.

On July 29, 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York the Group of Friends united against Human Trafficking convened a solemn meeting to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
Background Information: World Day against Trafficking in Persons is observed on July 30 beginning in 2014. This day was included in the international calendar on the initiative of Belarus to implement UN General Assembly resolution 68/192 and pursuant to the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, adopted by consensus at the 64th session of the UN General Assembly in 2010.
During the meeting, Member States of the Group of Friends exchanged their national experiences in the field of combating human trafficking and discussed further concerted actions in the United Nations to strengthen partnership in order to eradicate this crime, including in the context of the forthcoming UN General Assembly High-level meeting to review the UN Global Action Plan to Combat Trafficking in Persons, which is scheduled for 2017.
