Belarusian Railway signed a trilateral agreement at expo Transport logistic-2019 in Munich

June 4-7, a trilateral agreement between Belarusian Railway, PAO TransContainer and DB Cargo Logistics GmbH was signed at the international logistics, telematics and transport expo Transport Logistic-2019 in Munich (Germany). First Deputy Head of Belarusian Railway Igor Shilov signed the agreement on behalf of the Belarusian railway administration.
According to the signed document, further ways of cooperation in transportation of components for assembling automobiles at factories in Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod will be determined.
Note: for the last few years Belarusian Railway has been cooperating effective with transport companies and business communities of Germany. In particular, as part of a Volkswagen project in January-April 2019 the volume of auto parts transported from Europe to Russia in transit via Belarus amounted to 20 000 TEU containers, 1,2% more than in 2018.

Railway companies of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan sign agreement

June 4, a shareholder agreement of JSC United Transport and Logistics Company – Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA) was signed in Moscow. The document indicates that the railway administrations of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan intend to continue integrating transit transportation by rail in the Eurasian Economic Union. The shareholders hold equal shares (33.33% for each shareholder).
The document was signed by Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Russian Railways, Vladimir Morozov, Head of Belarusian Railway, Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC.
The United Transport and Logistics Company (UTLC) was established on 13 November 2014 by the railway administrations of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
The company was founded to provide complete service for organizing container transportation in China—Europe—China direction using the 1,520mm railway gauge from the Kazakh-Chinese border to the Belarusian-European border.
In 2018 JSC UTLC was reorganized into JSC UTLC ERA.
Today, UTLC ERA is a major player on the market of container transportation by rail in the Eurasian Economic Union. In 2015, 48000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) were transported by the company between China and Europe via Belarusian Railway, but in 2018 the figure exceeded 280000 TEUs.

Belarusian Railway will showcase its capabilities at Munich expo

Belarusian Railway will participate in Transport Logistic-2019 in Munich, Germany on 4-7 June. The first Transport Logistic expo took place in 1978.
Traditionally, the business part of the expo will include an international forum, conferences, and presentations by companies.
Belarusian Railway participates in this most important business event in Euro-Asian transport market as the exhibitor at the stand № 428 in pavilion 5. The information and advertising materials about the services of the Belarusian railway, including services for the delivery of fans and participants to Minsk during the 2nd European Games (21-30 June) will be featured at the stand. The state-owned enterprise Belintertrans — transport and logistic center – the official forwarding company of Belarusian Railway and Belintertrans Germany, a daughter enterprise of the Belintertrans company will also present transit potential in Munich.
Belarusian Railway will hold meetings with representatives of the railway administrations of Germany, Poland, Austria, Netherlands, and Czech Republic, with freight owners, representatives of ports, stevedoring and forwarding companies to discuss possible ways to increase the volume of transit freight traffic via Belarus. Container transportation will be discussed as well.
From January to April 2019, the volume of freight transportation amounted to 5,4 billion tons (an increase of 3,4%) in Belarus—Germany direction.
Belarusian company is actively developing infrastructure at the Belarusian—Polish border checkpoints.
Belarusian Railway specialists will inform about potential and the work done with Polish Railways to enable the technical readiness to resume freight transportation via the railway border checkpoint Vysoko-Litovsk—Cheremcha. This railway border checkpoint is additional to Bruzgi—Kuznica Bialostocka and Svisloch—Siemianowka border checkpoints.

Representatives of Belarusian Railway will take part in meeting of the Council for the railway transport of the Commonwealth Member States

The 70th meeting of the Council for the railway transport of the Commonwealth Member States will take place in Helsinki (Republic of Finland) in 14—15 of May.
Vladimir Morozov, the Head of Belarusian Railway, is to lead the delegation.
The representatives of the railway management from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine are expected to attend the meeting in Helsinki. The heads of railway administrations of Bulgaria, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania also take part in the Council’s work. The railway administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Railwaymen and Transport Builders have observer status on the Council.
The meeting will chaired by Oleg Belozerov, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of OJSC Russian Railways.
The Council considers and solves operational issues concerning the railways: international passenger and freight transportation, the joint use and technical maintenance of freight cars and containers, the development of a system of accounting and mutual settlements for work and services performed, ensuring the technological unity of the railways.
Special attention will be paid to the results of passenger transportation in 2018 and 1st quarter of 2019.
In 2018, Belarusian Railway transported 3,8 mln passengers (or 100,8% compared to 2017) and 121,3 mln of freight (or 107,6% compared to 2017) in international direction. Passenger turnover amounted to 1,1 billion (or 100,6 compared to 2017). Freight turnover increased by 8,3% compared to 2017 and amounted to 41,7 billion tariff ton-kilometres.

Vladimir Morozov, Head of Belarusian Railway signed a loan agreement in Beiging

Belarusian Railway and the Export-Import bank of China signed a 65.7 million loan agreement. This document was signed as part of Vladimir Morozov’s visit the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (Beiging, April 25-27). The funds will be destined to finance the project Electrification of Homiel—Žlobin—Asipovičy and Žlobin—Kalinkavičy sections, 3rd stage. Žlobin—Kalinkavičy section.
Of the 1228 km of rail track in Belarus 22,5% is electrified. Belarusian Railway completed the electrification of Homiel—Žlobin—Asipovičy, Maladziečna—Gudogai—Lithuanian state border railway section. It is planned to electrificate more than 60 km each year.
The electrification of Žlobin—Kalinkavičy railway section will be completed before the end of 2020. Ultimately the total electrified route length is expected to be 25%.
Vladimir Morozov also took part in the thematic forum on Infrastructure Connectivity, met with administrations of CUEC and CRRC companies.
Today, more than 30 Chinese electric freight locomotives operating on Belarusian Railway.

Belarusian Railway will transport freight from Vietnam to Belarus

April 8-12, a delegation of Belarusian Railway is taking part in the 34th Conference of General directors (authorized representatives) of OSJD Railways in Seoul (Republic of Korea).
April 11, 1st Deputy Head of Belarusian Railway Igor Shilov met with the deputy director general of Vietnam Railways to discuss freight delivery by rail from Vietnam to Europe, including to Belarus.
During the meeting the Belintertrans Transport-Logistics Center of Belarusian Railway and the Rail transportation and trading company Retraco (a subsidiary of Vietnam Railways) established long-term transport and logistics contacts with the aim of implementation of future-oriented projects on freight transportation on the Asia—Europe—Asia direction, including the use of the transport and logistics center Kaliadzičy.
The transport and logistics center Kaliadzičy is a leading hub for processing large-tonnage containers and heavy cargoes. The terminal is basically a dry port, where a single technological process unites warehouses, auxiliary premises, road and rail access roads, and open storage areas for containers.

The Belarusian Railway will take part in International railway congress in Vienna

March 18-19, 2019 International railway congress “One world. One rail.“ will held in the Austrian capital Vienna.
Taking part in the meeting were administration of international railway organizations, Austrian Ministry of transport, business leaders and experts, suppliers and clients.
The congress is devoted to the issues of improving the efficiency of international freight and passenger rail traffic including digital technologies, using and developing the transit potential of existing international transport corridors in East—West—East direction.
The Head of the Belarusian Railway will hold the speech “One Belt, One Road. Improving international connectivity and cooperation.
The Belarusian Railway has been working to develop container transportation in East—West direction. In 2018, the Belarusian Railway transported 387, 3 th TEU containers in West—East—West direction (1,3 more than in 2017) .
The Belarusian Railway has great potential to increase the volume of freight transportation through Belarusian—Polish border checkpoints. It plans to resume cargo delivery through the border checkpoint Vysoko-Litovsk—Cheremcha in the nearest future.

The Belarusian Railway implemented a new container train

Belintertrans — Transport-Logistics Center (BTLC) of the Belarusian Railway is implementing a new project — a regular container train in Belarus—Romania direction. The BTLC partners are Rail Cargo Logistics d.o.o. (Slovenia) and Zakhid Trans Service transport company (Ukraine).
The new container train carrying wood products departed from Hancavičy railway station on the 5th of March. The train comprises of 124 containers on 31 special well cars. For such transportation it is required to use Open Top containers with increased capacity.
One of the main advantages of this new project is speed of delivery — 39 hours. The expected volume of transportation is 120,000 tons of freight in 2019.
Igor Shylov, 1st Deputy Head of the Belarusian Railway, representatives of BTLC administration, project representatives from Slovenia and Ukraine took part in official ceremony.
In 2019, the Belarusian Railway plans to launch new export train projects. The Belarusian Railway, in cooperation with Russian and Azerbaijan rail operators, is working on a new container transportation project Minsk—Baku. This project will allow deliver Belarusian products to Azerbaijan in 7 days and at competitive rates.
